Which resort would you choose in Fort Lauderdale: Lago Mar or Pelican Grand?
We are trying to decide between the Lago Mar and the Pelican Grand Beach Resort for our 3 night stay in Fort Lauderdale. Our kids will be 2.5 and 8 months old, so we want a very family friendly and “easy” place to stay. At either hotel, we’d stay in a suite. Any recommendations on which resort would be more fun for the kids and therefore more relaxing for us?
I’m biased — I’ve stayed at Lago Mar for six years in a row. There’s simply no better place for kids in Ft. Lauderdale. There’s a giant beach, two large pools, swingsets in the sand that you can see from the outdoor bar (!), and lots of kids all over the place to give the place a casual feel. We’ve met so many nice families over the years that it feels like home.
Lago Mar is easy. You never really have to leave. There’s a great restaurant, a casual ocean grill, ice cream/sundries shop, tennis, shuffleboard etc.
Finally, with all of the parents around, we’ve always felt safe there and welcome. Pelican Grand is nice, but if it’s the place I’m thinking of the beach is a little close to the lobby. At Lago Mar your little kids just can’t get down to the water unless you’re really inept as a parent.
